We bring you the buzz in the 215 blogs this week. Philebrity pondered the meta nature of blogs and social networking while enjoying publicist Paige Wolf's performance of her song Online Social Network. Ooh, does this mean we're even more meta? Is that possible? Brooke Hogan sets women back 100 years. So says NightlifeGay, and we're inclined to agree... except who really listens to Brooke Hogan anyway? It's all about the Olympics at A List......

We are happy to announce the creation of our very own Twitter account: @Phillyist. Twitter is a free microblogging and social networking service. Users can update their status from the Twitter web site, popular instant messaging clients and SMS text messaging via mobile phone, not to mention a slew of third-party apps for various platforms. The purpose? Some would argue that Twitter and similar services like Jaiku only exacerbate an already intensifying addiction to "the......

We like to compare bands to other bands when we talk about them. We find it helps to give a good idea of what they sound like. Once in a while, a band comes along whose sound we can't define as analagous to anyone else's. And as much as we've listened to Alabama indie rockers Wild Sweet Orange's five-song EP, The Whale, lately, we just can't come up with a "sounds like" for these guys.......

While SFist cringed at the fatal dose of crime littering the Bay Area, it found solace in Hillary Clinton's San Francisco campaign headquarters opening, which featured loads of exposed mammary glands. In other news, SF Taxi Commission ruled that Satan's cab must keep its (in)famous medallion number, 666; and in an un-fashion-forward frenzy, San Francisco Fashion Week (chortle) bars bloggers from covering and getting smashed at their shows and parties, respectively. Also, they found a......

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you. Somebody dropped a link to digphilly.com on our contribute page, so we took a quick look, and it seems pretty neat. Kind of an all-in-one guide for what to do, where to go, how to get there, and what to buy in Philly, and it even also has its own social networking thing going on. Maybe it's trying to do too many things......

The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. Game|Life's got the logo and a screenshot from the next Katamari game, Beautiful Katamari. The Typing of the Dead is still probably the most ridiculous game we've ever heard of. We really thought it was a joke at first, but it actually exists! And to be honest, after we thought about it, we decided that learning to type by having to......

This Spring is the third anniversary of Lifeknot, online meeting place for people of all ages, based solely on interests and hobbies. The CEO and founder, Matt Muro, began Lifeknot after using online dating services that seemed to force an instant romantic relationship. “I felt that online dating sites rushed people into the relationship stage of a friendship and social networking sites linked you to so many people that the intimacy of establishing a......

Ladies and gentlemen, the full definition of Social Media, according to Wikipedia (since, you know, it's infallible): Social media describes the online technologies and practices that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives with each other.A few prominent examples of social media applications are Wikipedia (reference), MySpace (social networking), YouTube (video sharing), Second Life (virtual reality), Digg (news sharing), Flickr (photo sharing) and Miniclip (game sharing). These sites typically use technologies such......

It's been a hard week for Philly kids: Four people, including two children (ages 7 and 10) were shot and wounded outside a bar in the Frankford section of the city early Thursday morning. Our high school drop-out rates have reached crisis levels. A 16-year-old has been convicted of shooting a deacon, who was trying to stop a group of youths from beating a 13-year-old. Local parents spent Wednesday evening learning about MySpace and other......
