Listen, MSNBC. We know you were in a bit of shock about the whole Democrats-losing-elections thing (we're equal opportunity pundit haters around here), but don't you think you still could have maybe proofread your screen titles?

Hey there, Philly Mag. We love long sweaters, too. But you know what we love even more than long sweaters? Remembering the apostrophe in "we're." (We can't tell whether it makes things better or worse that you remembered it in the initial post, but forgot it on the eleven slides following.)

A few weeks ago, several Phillyists convened at The Black Sheep Pub in Rittenhouse for some good ol' fashioned Johnny Goodtimes Quizzo. We came in second and caught a lot of ex post facto ire for our team size—but that's neither here nor there. This post is about the menu at the Black Sheep, which was full of grammatical errors. This one may have been the most egregious, not just because of the use of a possessive rather than a plural, but because of its proximity to the correct pluralization.

Okay, so technically the photo caption on this piece explains that Pearl of the East (which is at 19th and Chestnut) is no longer on Walnut, but if you're going to put a story on your front page (albeit below the fold) with a headline about tough times come to Walnut, , couldn't you at least have run it with a shot of an empty storefront on the right street? Like, the one accompanying the online version of the story, maybe?

Maybe it's our intellectual elitism, but if you're going to name your establishment after a literary character, we're going to hold you to a higher standard in the proofreading department, Dr. Watsons. (But then, the missing apostrophe in your name should maybe have been a clue....)

Philly.com clearly doesn't pay enough attention to Phillyist. Didn't they learn last week? And so today, you get a two-fer.

Your faithful Phillyist Proofreader caught this Florida-plated Hyundai on Germantown Avenue, just north of Girard, in that neighborhood nostalgically and perhaps misleadingly called "Olde Kensington."

Even though Joey Sweeney's dissed us once or twice, we've remained relatively mum on Philebrity, and plan to remain so. Except for the fact that we run a weekly feature here called "Proofreading Philly," and, well, we can't ignore poorly-edited content, now can we?

Phillyist Ross sent us the screencap above, from an article published the same day Brian Tierney announced that Philly.com would soon begin charging for content. Although the article has since been corrected, we'd like to suggest that Mr. Tierney gives his proofreaders a raise with the money he hopes to raise on Philly.com. They're obviously a little undercompensated.
