Okay, so technically the photo caption on this piece explains that Pearl of the East (which is at 19th and Chestnut) is no longer on Walnut, but if you're going to put a story on your front page (albeit below the fold) with a headline about tough times come to Walnut, , couldn't you at least have run it with a shot of an empty storefront on the right street? Like, the one accompanying the online version of the story, maybe?

  • Hidden City Highlights Undercover Treasures

Art and decay have oft had a love/hate relationship. Look no further than the inspirations of Marcel Duchamp or the crumbling Colosseum in Rome. Time (and lack of preservation) may eventually rob us of some of our cultural treasures, but it also inspires the creation new artistic works. This month's Hidden City Festival organized by Peregrine Arts and produced in partnership with the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia and the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage seeks to highlight this circular phenomenon. Inspired by some of Philadelphia's most spectacular "forgotten" landmarks, a small army of artists have put together an unique collection of multimedia installations, dance and music presentations.

  • We can't help but feel that the Inquirer could run this poem again this year and it would be equally appropriate to the time. The painful truth is at least cushioned by the juggling.

Well, this Phillyist was going to write a nice little article comparing the Phillies and Rays at each position and determine who has the edge. I had this idea yesterday, but decided to hold off a day on writing it. Unfortunately, the Inquirer already wrote it this morning and I am, as Lao Tzu once said, “shit out of luck.”

Phillyist reader Christopher followed up on last week's Asshole of the Week by pointing out something very strange: while Commissioner Ramsey's name was spelled correctly in the Inqy article we linked to, that same article published a day later in the Daily News features a misspelling of the name in the headline and in the URL, even though it's spelled correctly in the body of the article. Almost a week has gone by, and nobody at philly.com seems to have noticed yet.

Editor Jim found this Inky error while compiling Tuesday's news post. As of yet, the error hasn't been corrected.
