Somewhere in the midst of the Phillies giving us one coronary after another, we lost track of the fact that we went to the Factory a couple Saturdays ago to check out a couple of our favorite live acts, Paramore (MySpace) and Paper Route (MySpace). It's not that the show was forgettable; we just get a little crazy around Phillies playoff time.

We have a confession. Let's just get it out there, because the truth will set us free, right. We're not 16-year-old angsty girls, and yet we still find Paramore (MySpace) inexplicably compelling and listenable. There, we said it. We feel much better now.
Paper Route's recent EP poses the question, "" In a weekend where this Phillyist saw six bands—including three of this Phillyist's favorite bands—and Paper Route was the first of those six, it would be easy for the answer to that question to be, "Yep," or at least, "Oh yeah, we did see Paper Route this weekend." But fortunately, Paper Route's set at Festival Pier on Friday night was strong enough that it stuck in our heads, despite seeing some other fantastic performers both Friday night and on Sunday night (which you'll read about tomorrow).
No, not the kind that your parents made you get to earn extra money as a kid, but the kind that will be playing at Festival Pier at Penn's Landing tonight. Paper Route (MySpace) is the opening band on Paramore's Summer Riot tour, and the Philadelphia stop happens to be on this fine Friday. Rain be damned! The band recently released an EP, . And the buzz around them is phenomenal. They've drawn comparisons to The Postal Service. It's kind of there, but based on the admittedly few Paper Route songs we've heard, we think the more appropriate comparison is to another Nashville-based band who's in town this weekend (and who has an eerily similar name), Paper Rival. Paper Rival, Paper Route. Paper Route, Paper Rival. Uma, Oprah. Oprah, Uma.
