Brews for Boobies!

I know what you're thinking: "Brews for Boobies" sounds like a fairly average night out. Ladies use the boobies to get the free beers from the boys. The boys buy the beers hoping to get a pass to second base. Right? Oh so wrong. Brews for Boobies is an extra special pub crawl happening on Saturday, October 3rd in support of the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

Frugal Fun Alert: Weekend

Fun around town, for $10 or less:

Phillyist has a confession to make: We have never made it through James Joyce's Ulysses. Not even a little. We've tried. Oh, how we've tried. But though we've failed more times than we'd like to admit, we console ourselves that those with better minds have thrown their hands up in disgust and screamed, "Okay I get it! It's the *&%*#$ Odyssey! Jesus, at least Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man was under 200 pages!"

We're back for more Philadelphia blogosphere, this week featuring some familiar subjects (Philly Future! Albert Yee!) and some not-so-familiar subjects (Fiona Apple! Jennifer Weiner! JOHNNY GOODTIMES!)

In this corner, with some of our favorite seasonal beers, Stoudt's! And in this corner, the hometown champ from Philly, Yards! Never thought you'd see beer competing in a wrestling-inspired match, didja? The Royal Stumble's come through for you, my friend: from 1 to 5 pm on Saturday, July 9, brewers from Stoudt's, Yards, Sly Fox, Flying Fish, Independence, Dogfish Head, and more meet at Nodding Head for an all-out bottle. The brewery whose keg is kicked first wins a championship belt. We know what you're thinking - $30 to kick a keg? Didn't I do that in college for free? Trust Phillyist: these are some of the tastiest local beers around, and they put Natty Light to shame. Bonus: according to Beeradvocate.com, this year's Stumble theme is superheroes. The best outfit wins a prize, so break out the blue tights. On second thought, something with an adjustable waistband might be better. Royal Stumble at Nodding Head (1516 Sansom)
