Valentine's Day came and went. Roses were bought and hearts were filled and, probably, some were broken. Cupid choked a little on the rough city air and kept right on flying, gone for another year. Trash cans filled with empty cardboard hearts, once full of chocolate, now bereft of their rich and sumptuous treats.
Hey baby how are ya! Great! Hold on a sec, I gotta finish this call...[into cell:] Yeah, yeah, yeah, well you tell Chris Knight that if he wants Are You Smarter Than a Brady? on the air by Thanksgiving he's gotta learn to f*cking get along with Jim J. Bullock! Ok, ok, ok, ok, yeah, ok. Great! Call me when you get this message.
Dan McQuade of Philadelphia Will Do (maybe you've seen us mention him) has been assigned the enviable task of getting paid (by Vanity Fair!) to watch television for the next two weeks—specifically, the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, which kick off tonight on various NBC networks. You can check out his blog, chronicling as much of the 3,600 hours of coverage as he can stand, right here.

This has very little to do with Philadelphia, but we always loved kicking back to Meet the Press on Sunday mornings when it was too cold or too hot to brave leaving the apartment to go to brunch. So it's in great sadness that we pass on to you the very, very sad news that Tim Russert, beloved television host and author, died this afternoon at the NBC News Washington bureau of an apparent heart attack. He was 58.
The Sixers are still motoring along, posting a win over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night (101-89), and fueling… playoff fever? We’ve felt this before, haven’t we Philly? Breathe through it. It’s not worth the morning after remorse. They’re not home again until March 7; hopefully they’ll keep up the winning away against Golden State (tonight 10:30PM), Phoenix (tomorrow 9PM), and the LA Clippers (Monday at 10:30PM); you can catch all on SportsNet.

This week, Phillyist saw the waters of a landmark fountain run red for a Showtime marketing stunt, the Phils pull ahead, and some serious nostalgia. They also got a chance to review an awesome tribute album, reminded folks to see the King, and appreciated their beautiful skyline.

It looks like John Bolaris, most famous for predicting a massive blizzard in 2001 that never happened, may be back in the forecast for WCAU. The recent announcement that WCAU meteorologist Doug Kammerer will be moving to KYW in February means that CBS 3 will be up one forecaster and NBC 10 will be down one. KYW was one of the stations that Bolaris was rumored to have talked to. Given the reports that his contract at WCBS is up at the end of the year, the forecast model shows that Bolaris may be heading south.
