Michael Nutter wants to make college possible for more Philadelphians. As it stands, only 18% of Philadelphia residents have college degrees. A better educated community means a better economy, so he intends to adjust the budget to benefit the Community College of Philadelphia in an effort to achieve a higher percentage of educated citizens. This is all wonderful. So how come there are thousands of college grads without jobs? Sure, maybe we have jobs, but......

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you. Here's the fascinating story of how amateur sleuths solved the mystery of the missing remains of Czar Nicholas II's family members. (Via Jill) Just because the Thanksgiving holiday weekend is over doesn't mean we're out of fun Thanksgiving-related links for you. First of all, turns out it's probably not the turkey itself that makes you sleepy after the......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Finishing the Game - We posted the preview for this one a ways back. It's a mockumentary about director Robert Clouse's attempt to finish the film Game of Death after the untimely death of its star, Bruce Lee. In Finishing the Game, Clouse starts a frantic search for an impersonator to replace Lee, and much wackiness and Hollywood satire ensue. Sounds like fun, but keep in......

What's new and/or interesting in theaters this weekend. For the Bible Tells Me So - This is a documentary looking at Christianity and homosexuality, and whether the two can possibly get along. It includes interviews with people on both sides of the debate, and looks at whether the parts of the Bible that are supposedly anti-gay haven't perhaps been taken out of context and used to serve a political agenda. Sounds like a very interesting......

This week, Phillyist saw the waters of a landmark fountain run red for a Showtime marketing stunt, the Phils pull ahead, and some serious nostalgia. They also got a chance to review an awesome tribute album, reminded folks to see the King, and appreciated their beautiful skyline. Chicagoist knows what it's like to like the Cubs. But naming your kid Wrigley Fields? At least they can breathe a little easier now that Grossman's out......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Black Sheep - Thought they'd already made a "scary animal" horror movie for every animal in the animal kingdom? When one of the mutant lambs is released by animal activists, suddenly thousands of......

This week's quote comes from Twelfth Night. The line is spoken in Act One, Scene Three, by the rather ridiculous Sir Andrew: “What is ‘Pourquoi’? do or not do? I would I had bestowed that time in the tongues that I have in fencing, dancing and bear-baiting: O, had I but followed the arts!” Now, on with the listings! All in the Timing - Sure thing. March 2-18. Ticket information online. Angels Fall - Who......

It rained yesterday, and by all accounts, it will rain again tonight. But right now, we're going to go with the MIDI ring on our cell phone and sing "No Rain." Oh, and read our sister sites, of course. Bostonist: Hell, why doesn't the dog just run for governor? Miamist: Free Willy! SFist: The San Francisco Zoo's interns are brilliant! Also, baby bald eagles are fuzzy and adorable. Austinist don't need your steenkin' gas! Gothamist:......

V for Vendetta Gets an A for Effort This film, by the Wachowski brothers, was adapted from the graphic novel by Alan Moore, who asked that his name be removed from the credits. I'm not sure what more he could have expected, though. V for Vendetta is not his best work, anyway; it's occasionally clumsy and melodramatic. The movie is just more clumsy and melodramatic. It also removes half the story and characters and severely......
