The chorus (sampled from Hair) expresses our desire for good weather leading up to the second half of Game 5, currently scheduled to be played tonight. The video itself, however, is just plain weird.*

Fun around town, for $10 or less:
A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you. Do you want to see a music video for the Gilbert & Sullivan version of "Baby Got Back?" Of course you do. (Via Sarah) Wow - turns out officer Chuck Cassidy and his shooting are the subject of an urban legend/email forward that already made it onto Snopes. (Via Debbie) Harmonix will send you a replacement for your busted Rock Band guitar if...
As it gets closer to Halloween for LAist, a contributer recollects her tale of staring down the serial killer, Richard Ramirez, otherwise known as the Night Stalker. Must think happy thoughts -- okay, free organic chocolate chip cookies for Los Angeles -- now that's a happy thought. Other happy Los Angeles thoughts include an interview with Jack Kehler of The Big Lebowski (he was the Dude's landlord), a beautiful and magical photographic moment in Venice and the press making the speaker of the California State Assembly, Fabian Nunez, run away when being asked hard questions about sketchy luxurious and worldly expenses.

Schoolyard Heroes, a Seattle punk-rock band, is shooting their latest video in West Chester, PA and you can be IN IT! They aren't your average punk-rock band (their MySpace tag line is: I vomit out my heart for you) and they are definitely far from your skinny-pants-loving-emo-crowd. Their gore-loving sophomore effort, Fantastic Wounds (is there really a wound that's fantastic?), had critics raving. Will their third album, "Abominations" be just as ground-breaking and horrifying? You can find out on September 18th.
If you’re Travis, making an entrance through the front of the Electric Factory and weaving your way through an audience is an easy way to stir up some excitement. Simultaneously playing “Gonna Fly Now,” (The “Rocky” Theme) by Bill Conti makes for an even better introduction. Jump up and down on stage with your fists in the air, and you’ve got your Philly fans pulling for you to be good. Show that you’ve got...

We've got a weird and interesting opportunity for you, via editor Jill, via Maria, via Kathryn: you could square dance with local singer/songwriter Adam Arcuragi - and in outer space, no less. They want 50 people to sign up, hopefully by today, to go down to the Fels Planetarium at the Franklin Science Center on Sunday January 21st from 6PM to 12AM and appear in a music video for Arcuragi. Arcuragi and the band will be playing, Michael Fulton will be directing, Kathryn TeBordo will be choreographing, and you'll be there, dancing. And apparently, kissing; they specify that you should bring someone you want to kiss, if at all possible (but don't worry; it doesn't have to be on the mouth, or with tongue). They don't want kids, but any body types are welcome, and you don't have to be able to dance all that well; the square dancing will be stylized and easy. Even better, pizza and drinks will be provided! But don't be fooled, this is going to be professional and stuff - there's even a dress rehearsal and everything, on Saturday, January 20, 2pm-6pm (if you can't make that, other dates and times are available). E-mail oumopo@yahoo.com for more information, and to RSVP.

Usually, Phillyist doesn't go in for cutsey Japanese pop culture, but this song came on one of our Pandora stations while we were at the office yesterday, and we were instantly obsessed. Even though this isn't the band's actual music video, but rather a fan vid, Editor Jim tells us that the band Puffy Amiyumi appears in animated form on the cartoon , and that there's usually a short live-action section with them too at the end of the show, but swears that he doesn't watch the show. Yeah right, editor Jim. Yeah right.
To be fair, although their heyday was definitely the '90s, British band Massive Attack has actually been out there making music on and off, in one form or another, since they first appeared on the scene way back in 1988, and in fact they are in the process of putting together a new album right now (with the intriguing and provocative title of Weather Underground). Apparently only original members Robert "3D" Del Naja and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall are left now - we miss Tricky! - but in whatever format they now exist, they'll be performing at the Tower Theatre tomorrow night.

James Kochalka is a relatively famous cartoonist/comic book artist, but he also does music under the name James Kochalka Superstar. We didn't know much about him until recently, but we kind of fell in love with him a little bit when we saw the music video above, entitled "Monkey vs. Robot" (perhaps unsurprisingly, Kochalka has a graphic novel of the same title). You can download an mp3 of the song here. Kochalka apparently likes monkeys, because he's got another track called "Hockey Monkey" that's going to be the theme song for the new Fox sitcom "The Loop." His new album, with the great title Spread Your Evil Wings and Fly, is coming out September 12th.

Those with a taste for the obscure and the old-fashioned, as well as those with large vocabularies and a love of the sea, might want to climb aboard ye olde Electric Factory this Friday night at 8:30 when The Decemberists come to town as part of their "Flight of the Mistle Thrushes" (see what we mean?) Tour. The Decemberists are out behind their latest disc, the wonderfully whimsical, yet also dark and atmospheric, Picaresque. Their music - on Picaresque as on all their albums - has a distinctive sound that's hard to describe. But Phillyist can certainly try! Listening to The Decemberists is like entering a strange fantasy world, the late 19th century/early 20th century past of a parallel universe, populated by pining ghosts, exotic grand princesses, lovelorn spies, and vengeful seamen swallowed by whales. Each song tells its own weird little story, while also delivering jaunty indie rock stylings.
Yesterday, Phillyist gave you a taste of the Philadelphia Live Arts and Philly Fringe Festivals. There's lots more to say about the Live Arts and Fringe, as they offer some of the most exciting arts events that you’ll see in Philly all year. The festivals are chock full of outrageous and insightful performances and happenings – even if you generally eschew live theatre, dance, and music, we guarantee you’ll find something you’ll love.
by Rebecca Rindler If you'd like to hear live music this weekend but don't feel like venturing to the dreaded Parkway, you've got another option: Philadelphia's hard-rockin' dance-electronic group Kandy Whales is shooting their first music video. To celebrate, they're throwing a block party, complete with music, beer and food - all free (this is starting to sound better than that other concert already). And if you hang out after the party, you could end up in the video. The block party is this Sunday, July 3, from 2-6 pm on the 1500 block of South Camac (near 12th & Tasker). Kandy Whales will play a set around 5 and then finish shooting the video at another location. Their website promises: "If you bring raw meat, somebody'll probably grill it for you right there while you drink your beer and hang out with the cool kids." BYOM: Genius! Are you listening, Live 8?
