Sponsored Content: See Kiss Alive 35 Free!

These days, it seems like most bands lack staying power. We can't think of many bands topping the charts right now that will still be around in thirty-five years—but hey, not many of them have the panache and showmanship of KISS. Currently on tour with Buckcherry, the Detroit shock rockers will be releasing Sonic Boom, their first album in eleven years, in Walmarts and Sams Clubs across the country next week. But because pyrotechnics and light shows and really scary makeup don't translate well to CD, if you want to get the full effect of KISS's music, you need to see them live. And the band will be awarding one lucky Phillyist reader with a pair of tickets to catch the Philly stop of the "Kiss Alive 35" Tour, October 12 at the Wachovia Center.

Bummed because you didn't win last week's Never the Sinner giveaway? Never fear! We have two more pairs of tickets and two more signed posters to give away. Just fill out the form below by Wednesday, August 19, and we'll let you know if you won. Full details about the show are in last week's post.

Win Mauckingbird Stuff!

Mauckingbird Theatre Company, Philadelphia's premiere gay-themed theatre company, is about to launch a new production called Never the Sinner, and Phillyist is giving you a chance to catch it yourself. Both this week and next, we'll be awarding two pairs of tickets and two posters signed by the cast to two lucky readers (that's four winning readers, four posters, and four pairs of tickets total).

There's something awesome about a catchy, poppy song that can't get out of your head. Unfortunately, most of the people who make these songs turn out to be one-hit wonders (anybody remember Matthew Wilder?)—but we've got a good feeling about the two bands playing the World Café Live this Friday. One of them, Peter Bjorn and John proved their awesome singability with "Young Folks," a song so good that you knew you'd never hear from the band again—until the announcement that the band was releasing a new album, Living Thing, which, on first listen, sounds just as awesome as their last. (That'd be Writer's Block—the album "Young Folks" lived on.)

If you see a Zipcar that has a Starbucks cup on its roof, don't be an asshole; tell the driver about it. For being a good samaritan, you will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card from the Zipcar's driver. We've seen this over the past two days, but there's no telling how long (or short) it will last. Karma does exist and it does pay to be nice.

How about cooling down today with a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven? The convenience store giant turns 81 this year, and in honor of that, and the fact that today happens to be 7/11, anyone who wants one can pick up a 7.11 ounce Slurpee at participating stores until 11PM this evening. (They started, naturally, at 7 this morning.)

Even as a heterosexual woman, this Phillyist will be the first to admit that there are few things more beautiful than the female body. And the less covering it, the better.
