This week ended with the launch of the seventh and final Harry Potter installation. But while the world was consumed with Pottermania, it's important to remember that there were more serious things going on in the world, too – two of them in -Ist cities. Sampaist was shocked when a passenger jet crashed into the center of Sao Paulo, killing at least 200 people. The airplane, an Airbus A320, skidded off the runway at the......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend (and next week). Opening Today Sicko - In the long-awaited follow-up to Fahrenheit 9/11, controversial filmmaker Michael Moore takes on the American healthcare system. Moore is infuriating to some and a champion to others, but his films, even if they are not always entirely factually accurate, do tend, at the very least, to move their audiences to strong emotions. We expect this one will be alternately......

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you. To our delight, someone has indeed illustrated that little super hero comic about Ikea by Matthew Baldwin of defective yeti that we posted a link to a while back. Yay! (Via) Stan Lee has signed a multi-year exclusive deal with Disney, meaning "Lee and his company will develop and produce all forms of entertainment" for Disney, and for Disney alone. Huh. Well, we'll......

The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. We're kind of sad that Battlestar Galactica's next, and fourth, season will officially be its last. But we're glad that it was a creative decision, rather than a decision by management, and that they're planning on going out with a bang. There will be a special two-hour episode called "Razor" airing in November, then the final 22-episode season will start in......

The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. Verbotomy is a sort of comic/blog/web-word game. Every week day, they put up a comic and a definition, and challenge you to come up with a word to match the definition. Cool idea. If you're feeling creative, hop on over and see what you can come up with. (Via) Check out this rather strange game which is on one level a......

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. The Morning News has an important public service announcement for you regarding a terrible infestation you could already be experiencing without realizing it: hipsters! (Via) LOL Trek. It's "The Trouble with Tribbles" summarized in a series of screen grabs from the show captioned in lolcat fashion. Hi-larious. Many of these images are ripe for being turned into personal icons. WE IN UR STATION......

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you. Check out this very funny clip that starts with a news conference where the Empire tries to spin the events of Return of the Jedi, and then gets even better, revealing that the Emperor has had to look for work at a temp agency. (Via) So what's really in a Chicken McNugget, anyway? It turns out, a lot......

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. We were kind of hoping they wouldn't make Harrison Ford do too many ridiculous stunts in the next Indy movie, but he at least seems to think they're going to put him through his paces; he's supposedly working out on treadmills for three hours a day and has switched to a high protein diet just to get ready for the filming.......

The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment. Hey, it's the 50th birthday of The Cat in the Hat! To celebrate, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, in partnership with various other folks, are asking everyone to help support literacy with Project 236 and NEA's Read Across America, National Read-Aloud Day, on March 2nd. Something you can do right now, though, is send a birthday card to the cat; for each card......

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. Rumor is there might be a Battlestar Galactica movie in the works - based on the original series. Oh...okay. Well. That...might be fun, we guess... Another cool poster for Grindhouse has been released. April can't come soon enough! Sony's Blu-ray edition of The Descent doesn't play in ordinary Sony Blu-ray players - you just get a blank screen - although interestingly enough, it......

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. Gifts for the nerd who has everything: a replica of Link's Master Sword that's actually made of steel and leather and stuff; replicas of Link's ocarina; or Duck Fadar, an LED rubber duckie version of Darth Vader. (Via) Escher on Flickr. Quite an impressive collection of his work. (Via) We're very glad that Hayao Miyazaki keeps not being truthful when he......
