The folks over at the bi-partisan Committee of Seventy want to make sure that we all get to the polls on May 19th to vote in the primary election. We think it's a noble goal, so we just wanted to join them in reminding you that the deadline for applying for an absentee or alternative ballot is May 12th at 5:00pm. Like we said during the 2008 Presidential election: if you don't vote, you can't complain. So vote.

City Solicitor Shelley Smith told the Committee of Seventy that she agrees with her predecessor that the ordinance that enacted the Deferred Retirement Option Plan for employees of city government does not disqualify elected officials.

You know how we're always popping in right about here to tell you what you can't miss? Well, to miss this would be downright irresponsible. More importantly, it would rob you of every American's fundamental right to demand change, to join together in one of two (or any one of several decidedly quieter, although no less vital, third party) voices and express yourself in the most important venue there is: the voting booth.
