Let's get all the holiday news out of the way first: the Inquirer has coverage of the 88th annual Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, which mainly focuses on the great weather. They greet Black Friday by reminding us of the many toy recalls, and by pointing out that there could be lots of great deals to be had out there due to a yearlong sales slump and tons of extra inventory. We're a little old-fashioned. We've kind of resented the Christmas-sales-before-Halloween mentality that's overtaken American retail chains, even since we were kids. But today is Black Friday, and the season can now officially begin.

Not too lazy to give you a few post-turkey news bullet points, though:

John Street is talking down men from ledges. Al Gore is visiting the city and people aren't making a billion Al Gore/Internet jokes. There were no posts on the Sixers/Knicks preseason tilt. It's been a bizarre week for Philadelphia and the blogosphere. And yet, we're still doing our weekly round-up. Comforting? No. Worth a few lines for a rushed intro? Definitely.
