Liverpool-based band Clinic (MySpace) is playing Johnny Brenda's this Friday with BBQ (which is actually just the name under which Mark Sultan performs, and not a tasty, belated Memorial Day celebration). We mention this because we've been listening to Clinic's latest, Do It! (released early last month), and it's pretty darn good. The music is solid indie rock with a strong beat and a deep sound, but it also has a unique '60s flavor,......

Phillyist has always been a big fan of Guillermo Pernot, and with good reason. All of his endeavors have been, in our opinion, palate-worthy if not concept-worthy. He has won awards, written a book and Pasion has always been a consistently great dining mainstay. His standards precede his reputation, which is probably why he has such a good one. With some endeavors more popular than others (think Trust in what is now El Vez),......

What's new and/or interesting on TV this week. Animal Battlegrounds (Tue, 9:30PM-10PM, Animal Planet) - Are the parts in nature shows where the animals eat each other your favorite bits? Then this show is for you! It seems to look exclusively at such conflicts. This episode focuses on wetland environments, particularly Africa, and features archerfish shooting their prey down out of the trees, and black egrets catching fish by tricking them with shadows. A writer grapples with her food porn photography obsession, another gets censored on Flickr, one gets scooped by the LA......

For instance, this week - today through Saturday - there's something called YarisWorks going on in the city. Basically it's a whole bunch of fun-sounding free events, all focusing on D.I.Y. arts and crafts, as part of the Yaris's whole Drive It Yourself marketing slogan. You might learn......

by Jen A. Miller Our weekly look into the odd, strange and bizarre at one .org Dream job anyone? A fireworks-inspired oh SNAP! of the week. Ooo, baby, nothing gets me going like fruit flies. Their leg twitching, their gene expression patterns, their incessant mating. Gets me hot and bothered. Cheese ball of the week. Wait, you screwed the WHAT? Are you related to this guy? I’m a Stonyfield Farm girl myself, but if you’d......
