The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you. Djimon Hounsou revealed at a press junket that he’ll be starring in his dream project soon, which he described only as a comic book trilogy. Could he be playing Luke Cage? Black Panther? Or does it have something to do with Tintin? We'll just have to wait and see. What would it look like if Saul Bass did......

The sweet scent of Friday is in the air, and as those without significant others recover from their hangovers and push their anti-couples bitterness back into the depths of their souls, let us all unite in giving thanks for another weekend. To whom shall we offer this thanks? Well, how about Mayor Michael "Here's My Budget" Nutter? A WALK INTO THE SEA: DANNY WILLIAMS & THE WARHOL FACTORY (2007) If you're an Andy Warhol......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Academy Award Nominated Animated Shorts Academy Award Nominated Live-Action Shorts Wow, this is totally cool: the Ritz at the Bourse is actually screening all the animated and live-action short films that have been nominated for Oscars this year. These films are usually quite difficult to see, so this is a really neat opportunity. Showing at: Ritz at the Bourse George Romero's Diary of the Dead It's......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Labyrinth - Woah! Here's a blast from the past. It's the 1986 classic wherein a young Jennifer Connelly has to travel into a weird fantasy world and face-off against a charming, well-hung, singing, dancing, evil David Bowie - not to mention a bunch of Jim Henson puppets - in order to save her kidnapped baby brother. Of course, it's ostensibly a kid's movie, so she has......

What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Breaking and Entering - Oh no! Another movie about three people whose lives intersect! Still, this one does sound rather intriguing, as it features Jude Law as a landscape architect who decides to start investigating the repeated thefts at his state-of-the-art offices in inner-city King's Cross (a seedy area of town he's trying to help rejuvenate), and ends up stumbling outside the confines of his familiar......

The city's schools may be taking some cost-cutting measures, but one place they're increasing spending (to the tune of $3 mil.) is to combat truancy. Apparently about 1 in 5 Philly public school students are truant every day. Philadelphia's homicide count hit 358 Wednesday night, with the deadly shooting of a 19-year old on the 5300 block of Hazelhurt Street. Bank robbers in the Frankford area of the city apparently left some "money and clothes"......

Phillyist has a confession to make: we secretly dream of shaking off the dust of this town and running away to be a movie star. Well, that's not entirely true - we love Philly to much to leave it - our real dream is to stay deeply mired in the dust of this town and become a movie star anyway. (Hey, M. Night, give us a call!) It is because of this dream (and not......
