Rockin' For the Wee Ones

503898905_b9d65e9703.jpgGirls Rock Philly, a day camp for girls ten through eighteen years of age, is set to run this summer from August 6-11. The camp teaches aspiring female rock stars how to play instruments, write songs, create merchandise, sell merchandise - basically just about everything they'd need to know to start their own band. Applications for campers are being accepted until June 30.

Girls Rock Philly is part of an independently run collective of day camps for young women interested in music, and their goal is to operate as a non-profit. With that in mind, they are reliant upon outside funding - and this Saturday, at the Tritone, Sugar Town is hosting a benefit concert to help them along the way.

The concert will feature performances by Shooting Ropes, Baptist Preachers, The Stay-at-Homes, Liberty City Kings, Philly Reggae Girls (DJs Version Girl and Carry Us). All the performances are sure to be good, and what's more fun than supporting the future of music by enjoying what's out there now?
