Because We're A Sucker for A Good Old-Fashioned Hollywood Romance

heartlight.jpg
A man recently had a mushy-gushy, Vaseline-on-the-lense soft-focus moment with a lovely lady while in line at The Dickens Village (which, this year, can be found along with the light show at Macy's in Center City). Alas, as these stories go, after boy found girl, boy lost girl...in the bustling holiday crowds. Now here's the modern twist: he's turned to the blogosphere to find her:
If on the slightest chance (about 300 million to one) you (the one I met today (November 25) in line at Macy’s Dickens Village) read this, I’ll be at the same place with my daughter in two weeks from now (Saturday) because she really wants to go again. My son said he would sit this one out (he’s 16). Now here comes the pessimist in me. I will probably never see you again. But maybe you read these BLOGS and I guess it’s worth a chance of hope.

(For more details, and the Big Hollywood Speech finish, you can visit the original post over on Philly Future.)

Now, the love lorn fellow puts himself in his "mid fortys" - so we don't know if blogs are the answer (everyone knows the over 35 crowd prefers MySpace), but we're really hoping she finds his messages and meets him at Macy's and the music swells and they live happily ever after.

And if she finds it via Phillyist, all the better. Then we'd be the spunky, single but imminently desirable best-friend of their love story - who secretly hates the woman in question for being Meg Ryan, but also forgives her because she can't help being Meg Ryan. The best part of this scenario is that we will never be played by Meg Ryan. (We are certain the Beautiful Lady in question is also not Meg Ryan - else the Man in Question would no doubt have recognized her - but chances are good Meg Ryan will be cast as her in the movie version. Unless it goes right to Lifetime - in which case our money is on Valerie Bertinelli - on that non-singing Judd.)

Seriously. Even we have to indulge our squishy, sentimental side sometimes. Good luck, Macy's Man.
