Phillyist has made several visits to Naked Chocolate Cafe prior to this writing. All in the name of research, of course.

Located at Broad and Juniper, the cafe has an unassuming exterior (despite the racy name), and an interior that will make you feel like a young Charlie Bucket stepping into Wonka's wonderland; assuming Wonka eschewed the chocolate fountain for comfortable elegance and the Oompa Loompas for friendly staff. Chocolate lovers will feel like a kid in a candy store.

Which, of course, makes sense, what with all the candy.

Loose candy aside, Naked Chocolate also offers a variety of drinks and desserts. And whereas I could wax rhapsodic about their Aztec hot chocolate, discuss lovingly the strangely pyramidic Nudo (Naked Chocolate's version of the brownie) or tell you about the delight that is their chocolate mousse - I will instead tell you that the last time I went to Naked Chocolate was with a friend, whom I very rudely and pointedly interrupted in mid-conversation with the command, "You need to stop talking right now and try this," and nudged my bittersweet hot chocolate in his direction. And after trying said chocolate, he didn't quibble about my manners.

I have heard some people call Naked Chocolate pricey; I personally don't find it to be so. However, I do recognize that paying $5 for an "Indulgent" (medium) sized hot chocolate may seem odd to someone whose caffeine addiction isn't already causing them to pay about that much for a morning shot of joe at local coffee shops. So, maybe Naked Chocolate isn't an every day place - but I do think it's worth $5 every now and again to slip into a moment of rapturous, chocolate-coated silence.
