Select Philly - We're Clean!

clean.jpgTwo random bits of Philly news picked up from the web which are in no way related, except by our "clever" headline. (Admit it, some days you wish you were as "brilliant" as we are.)

First off - Verizon Superpages.com thinks Philly is a clean city: one of the 20 cleanest in the country (16th to be exact). Yay for us! Of course, their ranking has less to do with our actual environment and more to do with how many cleaning services we have available to us - but who are we to snub a clean honor? Just try to ignore the niggling voice in the back of your head which is asking, "If we're such a clean city, why do we require so many cleaning services?

And let us not be remiss in giving shout-out to our fellow -ist cities on the list: Seattle, Chicago, LA, New York (listed for Brooklyn and Manhattan), and, of course, Houston, who came in at #1.

Not only are we clean...but we're select...as in "select cities." Movie cinema chain AMC will be starting their Summer Movie Camp this June, in which they screen movies from ages past on the big screen at 10:30 AM every Wednesday morning for free. Free movies on the big screen? And an excuse to eat popcorn for breakfast? Awesome. Phillyist is tickled pink that Philly is one of the cities which gets to take advantage of the free screenings, but we're a bit disappointed about the show time. How long do you think it would take before our boss caught on that we were scheduling "doctor's appointments" and "coming down with food poisoning" every Wednesday morning this summer? (via)
