Holiday Shenanigans at City Hall Today
Work up some holiday spirit and head over to City Hall this afternoon for the annual tree lighting! At 5pm we can all witness the majesty of the usually unimaginatively decorated tree.
Strangely, the holiday tree isn't actually at City Hall anymore - it's a block away at JFK Plaza. City officials don't want to interfere with the new lighting display of City Hall, the unveiling of which is also today at 5pm.
That's right, kids - there's something new and exciting afoot in Philly in the way of holiday decorating -- and it has nothing to do with cheesesteaks, the Eagles, or litter. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, some other religious or non-religious holiday, or simply think the lights are pretty, you don't want to miss City Hall all gussied up for the holidays. The new lighting display will run until January 1.

I celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, and Festivus. Kwanzaa is total b.s. and all my African-American friends think so.
Kwanzaa is respected by people of culture, those that actually embrace their heritage or better yet even know what their ancestry is. Understandable how some Americans could over-look the significance such a meaningful celebration has, since American history has robbed Africans of our identity and spoon fed us b.s. Read about it, the worst that could happen is: you may learn something!
